DIABETES (TYPE 2 OR LATE ONSET DIABETES)

Late onset diabetes is most likely to occur in people with a family history of diabetes. In this type of diabetes, whilst the pancreas produces insulin, the insulin is ineffective. Symptoms include:

Blurred vision

Itching

Unusual thirst

Drowsiness

Fatigue

Skin infections

Slow wound healing

Tingling or Numbness in the feet

People with type 2 diabetes can usually be controlled by dietary modification and exercise with insulin treatment not normally being necessary. While obesity is a major factor a weight reduction programme is all that is necessary to control it.
